Our Company

Based in Springfield, Missouri, Arcadius Press, Inc. is a seasoned publisher of Catholic educational material with two passions, a passion to energize and engage readers about the history, tradition and values of the Catholic faith, and a passion for comic books as an effective medium to captivate and motivate readers to live out those values. Arcadius Press provides educational graphic novels purposefully developed for Catholic education, equipping parents and teachers with content that both educates and inspires.

Arcadius Press is excited to be one of the pioneering advocates for Catholic comic books in the Catholic education community. The Stories of the Saints trade paperback is becoming widely popular in Catholic and Christian bookstores, classrooms and libraries across the nation. Arcadius Press and its products have been featured in several publications, including the St. Louis Review, Catholic News Service and London, England's The Telegraph.
Our Product

Arcadius Press' comics, now available as 112-page paperbacks, feature five non-fiction stories that chronicle the lives of different saints including favorites such as St. Joan of Arc, St. Nicholas, St. Francis, St. Patrick, St. Jerome Emiliani and St. Henry Morse. Arcadius Press refers to Butler's Lives of the Saints for factual information on each saint's life. Arcadius writers then build the story around that information.

Arcadius Press' comics are developed in an intricate production process perfected over a course of three years. Utilizing only the best writers, pencilers, inkers, colorists and graphic designers from across the country, Arcadius Press. comics reflect the message of the Catholic Church with sensitivity and approachability. The text and art encourage readers to grow spiritually, and inspire them to be active Christians, citizens and members of the Catholic Church.

Arcadius Press' approach to comic books differs from traditional comic publishers significantly. An introduction to each saint's story helps the reader identify important Catholic beliefs throughout the story. At the end of each story, timelines and discussion questions reiterate essential themes. These activities are extremely helpful for teachers and home school providers in that the comic book is both a text and a guide.

Our Passion

The comic medium is currently recognized as a successful means to reach readers of all levels. In the past, Catholic comic books such as George A. Pflaum's The Treasure Chest (1946-1972) created a remarkable fan base. Today, Arcadius Press is providing modern readers an opportunity to get to know the Catholic saints through this beloved and effective genre. Arcadius Press' comics are visually stunning, spiritually relevant and consistently effective.

The comic medium has long been popular in cultures across the world; in fact, since its introduction to the United States at the end of the 19th century, the comic medium has become a literary phenomenon and a billion dollar industry. Recent marketing statistics in the publishing industry show that the average comic book is read seven times by at least three different readers. By incorporating religious comic books into homes and schools, parents and teachers can take advantage of this statistic to cultivate a more thorough understanding of the lives of the saints for their children and students.
